Commitment to transformation
The firm views Black Economic Empowerment as a fundamental pre-requisite for the long-term development and stability of the South-African Economy and wishes to play an active role in this regard.
Measures taken by the firm
The firm appointed Mr. Tsita Lyster Mofolo as a director. Mr. Mofolo (B.Proc, LLB (Wits) was admitted as an attorney in 2000 and joined the firm in November 2005 as a Professional Assistant. Before joining the firm Mr. Mofolo was an attorney with the Legal Aid Board, Phuthaditjaba Justice Centre.
Liebenberg Malan Liezel Horn Inc. is committed to contribute to the skills development of its historically disadvantaged staff and by so doing contribute in improving their productivity and competitiveness in the workplace.
Liebenberg Malan Liezel Horn Inc. is also making a bursary available to one deserving student who is from a historically disadvantaged background to further his or her studies.
The Law Society of South-Africa (LSSA) is in the process of drafting a transformation charter which will address problematical areas experienced by the legal profession with regard to the codes of good practice as published by the Department of Trade and Industry.
Questions relating to Ownership, Management and what comprises Preferential Procurement in relation to the legal profession will be addressed in the charter. Once published and adopted the firm will re-allign its BEE plan and objectives accordingly.
